Hi All:
Most of you have heard this story before, so I'll keep it brief. I did a quickie
Web site for one of the top two radio talk show hosts in Northern California's
Bay Area and emailed him to let him know where to find it. It was completely
unsolicited, but he LOVED it. So we went into cahoots. I did a FREE site,
completely to his specifications, with my only requirements being that he give me
free mention on his show whenever possible and that I be allowed to prominently
display my advert on his site. Two weeks after we published, I got a call from
the TOP Bay Area talk show host (jealousy?). I did his site for $500.00 cash on
the same conditions as the first guy. We're talking hundreds of thousands of
listeners, folks. This second guy's site is now approaching 1/4 million hits. I
couldn't ever afford the notoriety I gained from having these two clients. I
have never laid eyes on either one of them in person, but everybody I know
listens to one or the other of these guys. Whenever I approach or respond to a
potential new client, the mere mention of their names is a door opener. The
moral of the story? Spend a little -- make a lot. Typical comment from a client,
recently - "Well, you did HIS site, so I know you're not inexpensive, but ---".
