You are right about the memory leak. I ran into this problem. But from my 
point of view you should be fine with the -n0 option. I use it on a 
mailserver moving an average of 35.000 mails processed daily, pam_mysql also 
wrks for a Jabber Server on the same machine. No performance problem at all. 
Since I added the -n0 parameter memory usage has been stable for 2 months.
