Subject: RE: [Web-cyradm] username as e-mail address

hi,
what i don´t like in xerxes is that i´m not allowed to use a dot in the
username e.g. [EMAIL PROTECTED]
is it possible to enable this?

The dot (unix like names) was a Cyrus Imap problem as I recall. The elimination of it in Xerxes is just a programming choice and can be fixed by editing the input normalization routine tables. I am not certain what Imap will then do with it. Try it and let us know what happens. I'll put in on our list to try as well.

xerxes also doesn´t allow passwords with special characters. this worked
fine in web-cyradm. is it possible to disable this password-checking
"feature"?

See above about normalization. We do some sanity checking to prevent certain types of MySql attacks which can be contained in the user name and password.

both web-cyradm and xerxes use a database mapping/lookup that is a bit too
static. i´ve seen some web-apps out there where the database mapping is
configurable too (e.g. different table and column names). this is a bit
annoying because now i have to rename my current tables and columns and have
to reconfigure the postfix-mysql mapping.

I'm not certain that I understand your objective. We have changed the MySql database several times to support different features.

philippe

philippe:

We had this requirement plus a requirement for virtual domains (i.e
[EMAIL PROTECTED] is separate and distinct from [EMAIL PROTECTED]) The
amount of code change required to accomplish these requirements was
significant and resulted in a fork from the web-cyradm code.

The resulting code base was named Xerxes and can be found at
sourceforge.net or URL = xerxes.qwik.net. It is stable and in use every
day providing secure e-mail service to multiple users over multiple
domains.

Although we no longer directly support web-cyradm, hopefully you will find
something in our work to assist you.
