This works:
db.foto.represent=lambda row: ....
TD(A(IMG(_width='200px',_src=URL(r=request,f='download',args=[row.image]))
....
but args=[row.thumbnail]
does not work from a previous post here I saw.
How do you get a thumbnail in t2.itemize via represent?
