RSS is OK for those that use RSS readers (or ATOM);

Tweet as a posting mechanism has these (considerable) advantages IMO:

   - Short messages (SMS length, historically);
   - Available for mobile delivery (therefore)
   - Many people from Python community (e.g. PyCon) follow things on
   Tweeter, so greater visibility
   - Because of short messages, more people likely to "check out" and follow
   web2py (on the other hand, RSS can show you new articles, etc.; tweets can
   provide link of "cool" articles)

I don't think this needs to be an "either / or" --- I think the type of use
is different.

RSS - track changes to content; be notified of changes, new items (good for
tracking a wiki, code checkins, etc.)

TWEET - intentional announcements: "Hey! web2py adopted on whitehouse.gov!
Check it out!" <--- this isn't RSS kind of thing (unless you have a "news"
page where you post such short things; with tweets, you don't need this)

Makes sense to me to use each for what they're best suited (I personally
havn't followed an RSS reader in years; being increasingly mobile, e.g.
smart phones, tweets are more appealing to me at this point, but I can see
RSS, particularly for code checkins, wiki, etc.)
