So an RSS feed requires someplace that changed - and someplace you can
already go look;

Tweet is different; I personally don't want either on admin interface
(wasted 1/2 day today because the feed didn't do proxy, and hung processes
for timeout; asked Massimo .... with all the debug emails .... to offer me a
way to "Just Turn it OFF!!!"

So my personal interest is - I subscribe to what I want to watch.

Massimo can put whatever he wants in his distro (whatever way he wants to
communicate is fine with me);

I just want a convenient way to option it / turn it off / make it go away
(e.g. I don't want to have to CHANGE CODE to make it happen!)

So - this, I still argue, is Massimo's decision (it's his chosen
communication channel - you can use an RSS reader to track whatever you
want; this is his "advertising" to his free-"customers" so to speak)

What would you RSS track by default for every web2py installation? News
feed? (there isn't one yet) Wiki? (it's had enough complaints that it's
clear it needs some rework, is not quite ready) Code checkins? (you can
already subscribe to that).

At least with tweets, Massimo can communicate what he wants without need for
any more work, any more infrastructure to people who use web2py (but maybe
don't watch the group).

I think this is a good use for tweets.

If it can be turned off, then I think you get what you want - "not listen to
tweets".

The other thing I like about this: If we can POST tweets to a tweeter
account, then (!) we can do the same - announce to people "following" us
without need to build / use anymore infrastructure.

The more I write about this, the more I think it's a good idea.

I also understand that you don't like it. If it can be configured, is that
ok for you?
