as long as there is a db.define_table(, migrate=False) that describes the
table you want to fetch the data from, you're good to go!
BTW: you can manage multiple databases with web2py without problems
db = DAL('sqlite://storage.db')
.....
db_autocomplete = DAL('db2://')
db_autocomplete.define_table(.....,migrate=False)
