The difficulty: eventually, you have to program to get what you want. The challenge: what are the best starting points for the major "kinds of" starting points so they will be useful (and not just so much menu-noise that it is of _no_ help to the seasoned programmer, and just confusing - not helpful - to the beginner). I think a "standard" app (welcome) is a good thing. I don't think a blank one is needed if the standard is lightweight. It may make sense to have full auth / crud default enabled app as another "kick-start" app; I think the user interface "flavor" is another aspect. We should experiment, offer suggestions / examples.. maybe the best way for web2py is to have an admin standard way to have "default app types" and pick from there.... so _I_ for example can add my standard, starting point w/ corporate UI for anyone inside my corp configuration, with the correct LDAP (or whatever) setup. Then people could offer "options" to include with the standard distribution, or simply add their own for their team. Actually, this makes sense to me. Massimo - what do you think about having a pulldown that is based on some list of "template apps" (or perhaps simply have a "template_apps" directory?" --- This could actually be useful without creating either too much noise, or imposing a limited set of starting points for development. - Yarko > > Kind regards, > > Annet > > > --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "web2py Web Framework" group.
