controller functions don't have parameters. You've said that you've done redirects in your prototype, and the redirect mechanism provides req.var to the controller function that you pointed to. If you call a controller function direct, you probably need to copy req.var to session variables, because there won't be a new request. anyway, if reusable_find_person_and_return_their_value is called from > within another function, the grid never shows up or doesn't display buttons > to select person.
