I've seen that happen before. If you have selected text, and you scroll, you get that.
I switched to Amy editor, and now I just have issues when I paste... if you go into /admin/default/peek/admin/models/0.py and change TEXT_EDITOR='amy' it seems to work better. Of course, if you scroll with text selected, the selection gets changed though. You can also just use any python editor to edit your files directly. I'm not really happy with either editor, but it does seem that Amy works best for me.
