Hi,

We discussed with Simon and András about it previously.

Now only one of our core builder on http://build.webkit.org,
"Qt Linux Release" builds WK2. Of course we can't migrate
this bot to a non-released Qt5. So we had to disable building
WK2 on this bot.

We have a WK2 bot running tests too on our master, http://build.webkit.sed.hu
x86-32 Linux Qt Release WebKit2 . We are going to migrate this bot to Qt5,
András (bbandix) started working on it.

But unfortunately it means that we won't have a core WK2 builder anymore,
which won't be able to protect QtWebKit-WK2 from Apple guys anymore. :(
We really need more resource for maintaining WK2 after migration to Qt5.

Once Qt5 become more stable, we can setup a new build
only core bot for Qt5-WK2 on http://build.webkit.org

Ossy

Benjamin Poulain írta:
At the Qt Contributor summit, we discussed about the future of WebKit2 living in the new scenegraph world. Simon did a patch to start that integration: https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62969

The patch is now updated and the plan is to get it in a state that can be landed, and then improve on top of it to get the best rendering performance.

Once this land, Qt 5 and QtDeclarative will be needed to build WebKit2. If you want to work on WebKit2, you probably want to get Qt 5 :) The instructions to get Qt 5 are here: http://developer.qt.nokia.com/wiki/Building_Qt_5_from_Git

In practice for WebKit2, you only need the following submodules: qtbase, qtscript, qtsvg qtxmlpatterns-staging, qtdeclarative (+its submodule: v8).

cheers,
Benjamin
