Note that this doesn't prevent anyone from providing a contrib
or even something that becomes a part of the main code base.

In fact I'd be happy to include it.

It's just that the default mode of operation shouldn't use Comet.

Well, with every new client you spawn a new thread that waits
for the client side to connect through an XmlHttpRequest or
Websockets and talks to it. It's as simple as that. :)
