I am not an Apple lawyer, but:

5.2 is the only version that both development and deployment is "supported" on Windows (NT 4 only, I believe). 5.2 costs $$ still, but is hard to come by. It is really an anachronism, and probably more work than it's worth.

5.3+ can be deployed to any platform you can get it to run on (anything that runs Java, pretty much), but Apple-Branded Support is only available for MacOS X Server. All development must be done on an Apple Branded computer.

With this said, there is LOTs of support online on the various lists for doing deployment to just about any platform you can think of. I personally deploy a WAR to Tomcat on Windows 2003 Server.

All the modern dev tools run _best_ on Mac but can be made to run on anything that can run Eclipse, but you do that at your own peril as it is not allowed according to the license.

Why exactly is there a requirement for 5.2.4? Simply because of Apple's support? If so, then I don't think 2003 Server is supported either. Only NT 4.

Hi List,

How do I get a copy of the WO 5.2 Installation CD?

I've been told to deploy WO (5.2.4) onto Windows Server 2003. All
the How-Tos that I can find refer to the Installation CD. I can't
find it in Apple's store and I tried sending an email to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
but it bounced :(

I've tried simply copying all the java resources but it appears that
"<WOApplication> The License key is invalid.

The license key for the for platform you are developing on (this is
not true of newer versions).

WO5.2 is hard to find. Your best bet is to hunt down your local Apple rep. In the US can you usually just call the Apple Store. That seems to not work so well in other countries, I am not sure about Australia.

Thanks Chuck,

The funny thing is my company is an authorised Apple reseller :-\

We mostly sell hardware so we don't have any copies lying around, but is this
really the only option? Do I really have to go antique shopping?

(eBay has it... Item number: 320264810425)

Forgive me if I find the licensing issues confusing... Do I have to get a different license to deploy on Windows? I have a bunch of license keys from
purchased XServes, is it a waste of time to try each of those?

Cheers,
Corin.
