Which just means that you _must_ buy and use an Apple-branded computer
for development. But, that does not mean that you have to use OS X as
the Operating System.
I develop WO Applications and Frameworks under the Version 5.2. Now
I want to switch to a newer version of WO. In best Case on the
newest one. I think this might be 5.4.3.
The Issue is, that my old WO Application Server is running on a
Unix System. I read in some forums that, Apple not longer allow to
run their WO Application Servers on Unix Machines, is this true?
Since 5.3, the license allows deployment on any platform. In fact,
surveys says that at least 30% of organizations are deploying on a
different platform than OS X.
Also, to me it's not clear, how all this licecens agreements can
fit for my case.
I have to Develop on a Windows Maschine. According to this, I work
under Eclipse and WOLips.
I got a WO Developer Licence for the Version 5.2. What do I have to
buy to develop under 5.4.3? I read, that a Mac OS X Licence might
be enough. Is this right?
In 5.4, the license was changed to say that you have to develop on
Apple hardware. So you can develop in Windows if Windows is running
under a virtual machine on a Mac...
Or via Boot Camp (http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/bootcamp.html).
This allows you to boot the computer directly into Windows and not use
OS X at all.
I prefer using OSX and virtualizing Windows, but your IT department
may not like that if they are saying you must use Windows in the first
place.
