I want platters + smart SSD cache, there is plenty of stuff stored on my HDD that I almost never access, but I still want it there. I don't need huge gobs of SSD storage on my mac, I just need enough to keep the stuff that matters on it. Solaris' ZFS can do this now, using SSD drives as a front line cache to an array of spindle drives. You get speed and resilience. I use OpenSolaris + ZFS for my home storage array, I want ZFS on my Mac too dammit :) > On Dec 15, 2009, at 11:54 AM, Mike Schrag wrote: > >>>> a couple of seconds >>> "a baker's few" >> officially, about 35 seconds from power button to in-using-ichat with my >> encrypted disk images mounted ... about 4-5 seconds from login window to >> typing in ichat with network connection. >> >> ms >> _______________________________________________ >> Do not post admin requests to the list.
