is it?

That's the WebObjects Deployment license. The WebObjects Developer license is the one we modified in 5.3.1 to permit deployments on other platforms. If you're going to develop on OS X (WebObjects Developer) and deploy on
non-Apple hardware, the OS X Server (WebObjects Deployment) license is
irrelevant.

Hi Cliff

Despite your very welcome efforts I'm sorry to say this is still not clear to me. You wrote

but I don't know whether this means I don't need a license to deploy on non-Apple hardware, or that a license won't be any use on non- Apple hardware. Is it irrelevant because it doesn't work?

Many helpful and informed WO developers have contributed to this discussion in the past, but as far as I can tell they each contradict the preceding poster and the result remains inconclusive.

Is it possible to put a true/false response to the following statements?

"If I buy OS X 10.4+ I will get a licensed copy of WebObjects developer for no extra charge. "

"If I buy OS X Server 10.4+ I get a WebObjects deployment license for no extra charge."

"If I deploy my WebObjects app on non-Apple hardware I do not need to get a license from Apple"

                or

"If I deploy my WebObjects app on non-Apple hardware I should still buy a copy of OS X Server in order to get a license that I will need use when deploying on the non-Apple hardware"

And one more that I'm not sure about.

"For versions of WebObjects > 5.2 there are no WO deployment libraries for non-Apple hardware. If I want to use WO 5.3.1 and deploy on Linux I have to abandon wotaskd and use J2EE
