org.eclipse.core.runtime.CoreException: Cannot create configuration
in file:/Users/dw/Documents/junk/eclipse/configuration/
This looks like a much lower level problem ... I would check
permissions, etc. If you try to touch a file in this folder, does it
work? Is there any thing weird about the folder?
