Hi Kieran,

you could return the page to be displayed to the user with an meta-reload at the top for downloading the file with a download action. The meta-reload is only displayed once with a flag set from the finished action and reset from the download-action. This should work as long as the browser does not try to display the download file itself.

From the programming point of view not really elegant, but works relative reliable. We use this solution for a result of a long response page and even from a normal page for a simple download and redirect to another page in one step.
