Hi All
I am just going to upgrade my dedicated servers for my clients apps and resources and just need some help to deal with IP failover and Redundancy.

I am looking at using Xsan on a Fibre Channel Switch with a External Raid.

My idea is to have two servers that are linked for IP Failover and they link into a Fibre Channel Switch which has the Raid Disks attached.

I was hoping to use the RAID disks to boot from for both servers so that the machines were independent from the OS - this would mean that I could just update the RAID OS and the servers would be synced as to that aspect.

The database and web server resources and WO resources too would be on the RAID disks.

So if any item in the set up went down, i.e server crash (change the server), disk crash (change the disk).

Is this Possible?

Is there a better solution?

Any useful links for consideration?

Gino
