Here are a couple of things to try: Remove any spaces between the wrapper and your component (so there are no spaces before the <!DOCTYPE> declaration) "Line 0 column 2" sounds a little like there is an unrecognized or non-printing character sneaking into the process.
Check the encoding of the file. UTF-8 works in the examples. Check if you’re using any entities that might not be strict xhtml.
