Weird.
Are you on Yosemite? Yosemity has replaced mDNSResponder by disoveryd.
This the guy that does the DNS name lookup. I have just recently read
an article
(http://arstechnica.com/apple/2015/01/why-dns-in-os-x-10-10-is-broken-and-what-you-can-do-to-fix-it/)
detailing the differences between the old and the new. Well, the new
one, discoveryd, is prone to malfunction. I also sometimes get that
"Safari could not find the server". A retry usually helps. The
commandline tools like ping or nslookup have their own DNS lookup code
statically linked in. So these do not use discoveryd.
This is the IP of learningthewonders.com
<http://learningthewonders.com>: 213.189.151.242
Unfortunately you cannot use the raw IP address in Safari as
learningthewonders.com <http://learningthewonders.com> is a virtal
host. You would end up on the default page of my company.
Give it another try (or downgrade to mDNSResponder, see arstechnica
article)

Safari can't find the server!
Do you think this is a conspiracy?

I am installing a new server and do it so seldom that
I want to have a walk through. Is there an alternative?
check learningthewonders.com

available there that might be of help. One in particular
deals with setting up deployment
