Why not just take advantage of gnumake's conditional constructs and use
the same makefiles in both environments? For example, in
Makefile.preamble:
ifeq "$(OS)" "SOLARIS"
OTHER_LDFLAGS= -L/opt/oracle/7.3.3/lib
endif
ifeq "$(OS)" "SOLARIS"
OTHER_LIBS = /opt/oracle/7.3.3/lib/libclntsh.so
endif
