Is trashing NT more then WebObjects. Their site was always slow and
awful, now I know why, it was running on a single NT box. Jeesh. It
was almost but not quite as bad as servers using "Amazingly Slow
Pages" technology. (ASP)
NT and SQL Server is hyped pretty strongly by Microsoft, but in my
humble experience, they, well, suck. Compare www.apple.com to
www.microsoft.com...
Oracle and Solaris is the way to go for any sort of internet server
if the volume or software cost will pay for the hardware. (It costs
about $5,000 more in "futzing" costs to use NT and SQL Server.) If
you have to, Oracle for NT is better then SQL Server for not much
more money, and it scales which SQLS doesn't.
