The existing 'whole site' is more than just the wiki-ish bits, it includes the Jive forums, the SCM console and so forth. Those things certainly need examination as well, but for the moment we are concentrating on the bit people tend to use the most, and that we get the most complaints about, namely the community and project pages. > Oh and I am still wondering why we are not using OpenSSO for the > authentication, authorisation and permissions sytem. It wasn't really a viable option when we started, and it is difficult to see how we would fit the 100,000 existing user accounts into it without requiring major changes to most of the stuff we already have in place. OpenSSO is also primarily focused on management of users, whereas we also need to be able to manage Projects, CGS, UGs, SIGs and whatever new structures come out of the community restructuring effort. We also need to provide a very simple API as we are expecting consumers to be written in a whole range of languages, not just Java. -- Alan Burlison -- _______________________________________________ website-discuss mailing list [email protected]
