Hi,

I am having a bad time trying to understand how to link, and have
published, translations that I am preparing from the English website, so
that they are visible on the French part of the website.

I have Author and Publishing rights to the French site, and these appear
to work normally.

I appear to have some form of Author and Publishing rights to the
English site, because I can modify an English page (e.g. the Mac
installation page) and publish those changes.

I have created a translation of the English "Installation" page into
French via the "Translation" tab. However, no button appears for me to
be able to publish that translation, all I can do is save it. If I then
go back to the original English page, I see that I can Publish that
page, even though I haven't actually changed anything ??? Is the
translation considered a change to the original English page that then
requires republishing in order to be visible ?

Notwithstanding the above, I created a VirtualSubsitePage in the French
website project and attempted to link that to the translation I had just
created. The link shows up on the French project as a VirtualSubsitePage
pointing to the translation (it has an orange colour different to the
other link pages in the tree view hierarchy of the FR project. However,
I can do absolutely nothing with it in terms of making it live, there
are no buttons to Publish the content. If I navigate to the live site,
the page I have just attempted to link is not displayed. This is driving
me nuts.

So what exactly is the solution ? Surely, if I can publish on both the
English and the French sites, I should be able to make the link live ?

As an aside, and I could be way off the mark, it would be pretty strange
to require complete publishing rights for all languages just to be able
to link translations into a given subproject. It would be even stranger
still to have to have full publishing rights on the English site just to
be able to link a translation to the French subproject.
