Forums are interesting, because they simplify the organization and the display of messages in such a way that's it easy and user-intuitive to see the relation between every messages part of a discussion.
I know a lot of people use mailing list in the open source community. Personally, my vision is probably similar to the one of Narayan. If you want to see a complete discussion and you are not archiving the messages since forever, you need to rely on the mailing list archives. An interesting way to improve the system would be to let people subscribe to the mailing list to receive the messages in their inbox, but implement a way to reply to any message from the archives (just like a normal forum) and support threaded views. -- Jean-Philippe Monette, Entrepreneur Web Montréal (QC), Canada | [email protected] -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to [email protected] List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/www/website/ *** All posts to this list are publicly archived for eternity ***
