I would upgrade to 12.04 from 10.04, but there is a problem with the
resolution of the initial boot after upgrading. It wants to boot at the
video card maximum and not at the lower resolution of the monitor's
maximum. One laptop has 12.04 with MATE as the desktop environment, though.
