urgh - thanks for the hint, restarted it. Just today Alex deployed
supervisord to have etherpad start automatically and it claims it did:

Not connected to the previous problem, as etherpad is on a completely
different machine - I assume this is a coincidence and check back
tomorrow, finally some time for a decent sleep here :/
