RESENDING -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: Potential Windows Download Isssues Date: Wed, 22 May 2019 01:19:43 +0200 From: Italo Vignoli <[email protected]> Reply-To: [email protected] Organisation: The Document Foundation To: Tdf Website <[email protected]>
During the last few months we have received several emails from users trying to download LibreOffice for Windows and experiencing some weird behavior, like the download vanishing when close to the end. I have tried to reproduce the issue using a Windows 7 VM running on VirtualBox on macOS, and I have experienced the same weird behavior, i.e. when the cursor was at over 90% the process has vanished (the dialog window has disappeared, and there wasn't any trace of the software on the disk). A second time, the download has frozen, and the dialog window changed to Repair. Once clicked the Repair button, the process has continued until 99%, and then has stopped for almost 15 minutes before completing (I could install the software). Just before launching the VM, I could download the installers for Linux and macOS from the same mirror (GARR in Pisa) without any issue. I have not tried other mirrors in Italy and in other European countries, but messages from users were from all over Europe and also from the US. Unfortunately, users experiencing these issues were not able to provide additional information. From the number of messages (most of them were sent to downloads@) I think the issue is worth investigating. I am happy to help, but for the next ten days I will be in Japan for the local LibreOffice Conference, and I won't be able to test downloads. -- Italo Vignoli - LibreOffice Marketing & PR mobile/signal +39.348.5653829 - email [email protected] hangout/jabber [email protected] - skype italovignoli GPG Key ID - 0xAAB8D5C0 DB75 1534 3FD0 EA5F 56B5 FDA6 DE82 934C AAB8 D5C0 -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: [email protected] Problems? https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/website/ Privacy Policy: https://www.documentfoundation.org/privacy
