Your approach works. All I did was recommend a suggestion on how other SMF implementers would have done it, and I offered to contribute work. You're working from the angle of a memcache expert that isn't familiar with (or doesn't care about) OpenSolaris. I'm working from the angle of an experiences OpenSolaris administrator that expects things to work in a certain way. For what it's worth, I also run a large cluster of memcache servers, so I'm familiar with the ins and outs of the application Try this. Take the manifest and method file for your distribution and post them exactly as is in the SMF discussion group. Openly ask the question if anyone would try it differently.
