All,

The second ARC case I'll be submitting this quarter is for the
Repository Content Management System known as Fedora (aka 'Fedora
Commons'). Not to be confused with the Linux Distro, Fedora is Open
Source software intended for Libraries and other long-term archival
and repository applications. It's Java-based, and runs on top of MySQL/
Postgres/Oracle and Apache HTTP Server. There's a lot of effort ongoing
with Sun's "Honeycomb" storage offering and Fedora, as well.

As with Drupal 6, we're floating this intent on this alias for
comment, with a Draft ARC Case to follow in the next few weeks. Also
as with Drupal 6, this request comes from Sun's 'Indiana Cabinet',
which identified both these OSS offerings as candidates for for
upcoming 'Indiana Repository.'

One of the technical issues we're tackling is that Fedora currently
bundles a full Apache Tomcat instance, which we'd like to avoid if
possible.

Current plan is to include Fedora 3.0 after it GAs this Spring -
no specific build is targeted at this point.

Once again, this note is to inform the Community of our intentions,
so... have at it! :)
