We don't need to, but they seem to have some use and they don't get in
the way.

By default Lighttpd always installs to $PREFIX/sbin, on Ubuntu that's
/usr/sbin, probably the same on other linux distributions. I knew when I
put this forward that there are probably rules for what goes into
/usr/sbin, but to be honest I couldn't come up with any compelling
reason for changing this.

Lighttpd would not be compatible across minor releases. Isn't supporting
multiple versions confusing from a usability viewpoint and horribly
difficult to maintain? As a user I can definitely say yes to the former.
