There was some discussion on this recently in sfwnv-discuss,

Since the studio12 bits are not there, the Makefile can't invoke a
compiler that doesn't exist..

I recommend documenting the performance difference and using that data
to encourage the sfw project to make studio12 part of the build
environment. Since Web Stack uses the sfw build environment, it's best
to continue the above thread over at sfwnv-discuss list instead of here.

Ultimately I'd like to see the project team (you ;-) make the
recommendation, but I agree they all sound useful. Certainly we want
PHP...  Here you'll also want to make packages that have the
appropriate dependencies.
