Sounds fine. As long as the deprecated compareToExpected and new
verifyContent exist together for one 'published' release we can point
people who are using compareToExpected to that release as their
release to use if they want to stay with the old step and/or port
their tests to the new step.
I have mostly prepared the changes so you don't need to look at it. I
find your diff modes idea interesting and this could be added later to
verifyContent.
