I call the bat file because that's how we are supposed to run the tests,

you are right, the same for my installation ? but we do not use the 
webtest.bat file in that project.
We did configure and run the webtests via ant build-file.

When I remember correctly there was a big Issue with the ant version in 
Webtests and the last major change was to upgrade the build to an actual 
version of ant. So I suspect the webtest.bat did not make the migration.
 
Why are you calling the webtest.bat any way?

how come webtest 3.0 includes a version of ant-launcher of 1.8.4, but the 
webtest.bat file is looking for version 1.7.0? 

Is this a bug? 

I tried changing the bat file to bring in the new version, but that didn't 
help.  I'm going to try to use version 2.6 of webtest now. 

Is this a beta release?
