why can't a President end the drug war............it was started by Presidents!! Remember Nancy Reagan's 'just say no' campaign? And Bush continued that policy as have other Presidents since!
I agree with Dug, if they legalize drugs, they would have more control over drugs and how they can be distributed........and they would also be ending drug related crime at the same time!! It sounds like a win-win situation to me..........plus they could also tax those drugs at the same time!! He can lower funding for it or change tactics but you don't sign an executive order. Does one end the prosecution for cocaine, herion, LSD and other hard drugs; not hardly. Wiping out the poppy in Afganistan is a good idea but also wipe out their economy unless we are prepared to replace it with something. Wiping out drug cartels is another war in itself. Ending the drug war won't end that. Mexico is trying and it is spilling over into the States.
