This could actually be flame war stuff, but I suppose not necessarily here. Generally it's best to use what you're used to. All distributions are up to the task of web hosting, it's the sys admin, that's the imporant and maybe weak link here. As I use Debian everywhere I'm biased, but Debian has two huge advantages over many others and that is the packaging tool apt and the fact, that the stable version is very old and thus very well tested and secure. If you don't want any troubles install a minimal Debian stable system and regularily run "apt-get update; apt-get upgrade". This will keep your system "current", that is mostly free of security holes with as little work as there is. Debian stable has Python 2.2 which is enough for Webware and most of the related tools. Debian also is well suited to be kept current over the net. It's a good choice. Another argument: w4py.org also runs Debian, although it's Debian testing AFAIK.
