Happy Holidays to the List.  A few thoughts:

NCQA is the defacto "certifier" for the health plan side, like JCAHO is for
hospitals though perhaps not as much market awareness/potential backlash is
not NCQA accredited.

NCQA is developing this BA program because they think the market needs it
and they can make money on it.

I know several people who have been involved in the process and helped
develop the program.  They state that it works very similarly to WEDI.

I think both organizations (NCQA, SNIP) are doing a good job.  Both develop
ideas (via volunteerism), put them out there, then finalize the ideas as
much as they can be finalized through a consensus-driven process in an
industry this huge.

The market does not "have" to buy into any idea.  But sometimes they are
useful ideas which help to move the market along.

Nothing is more important than moving the market along.
