Brandi- Do you know how quickly this X12N/TG2 group will begin putting answers out into the industry? If it's very soon, I'm with you that a duplicative effort wastes resources, but if it's many months, we may need to move ahead on our own. Also, I believe that this issue, while obviously having an impact on testing, might be one better suited for the Data Review SWG.
The flow for this might be: 1. Testing SWG, industry analysts, etc. identify ambiguities and, using the SNIP Issues Data Base, submit the issue for clarification. 2. The issue is routed to Data Review 3. Data Review compares the question against a list of issues being addressed by the X12N/TG2 workgroup. 4. Data Review will either answer the question based on information received from the X12N/TG2 group, indicate that the question is under review by the group or submit the question as a new item to the group for review. 5. Data Review tracks any open items submitted through SNIP. Other thoughts? Marcallee Jackson Independent Consultant Long Beach, CA 562-438-6613 <Brandi Wyatt wrote> Hi Everyone! I have some concerns in regards to the group being formed under the intent of working on the ambiguities currently present within the implementation guides. My apologies for not being on the call when this was discussed - but I thought I would post my questions to the group and try to nail down exactly what it is that will be accomplished and to discuss the possibility of not formulating this sub-sub-workgroup. I participate in a group within X12N/TG2 that is currently putting together the processes and procedures for being able to receive and respond to questions/inquiries that pertain to implementation guide "issues" only. The intent is that this group will be the "authoritative" voice for X12 questions with backing by the necessary entities to "legitimize" the answers. The outcome would be noted/corrected in the next IG release as well as the answer being posted/publicized immediately for the industry to apply if so warranted. Because of the effort that is currently underway, is it not a duplication of effort to begin the same process within this group? I do understand that TCS could be the "portal" for fielding questions etc - and I'll go out on a limb here and state that it could even be a collaborative effort with the Data Review group. Nonetheless, if people think that this is a viable effort we can further discuss, but I'm leaning heavily in the direction of not recreating the wheel and redirecting the energies of people already stretched thin towards other projects this group is working on.
