Assuming you are referring to procedure codes, a NOC (not otherwise
classified) or unlisted code could be used.  The other alternative is to
change the policy/redefine the services to fit the code structure that is
available.  One can submit a request for a new HCPCS code by 3-31-03 that
could (or could not) be approved for 2004 - CPT codes need to be requested
form the AMA for 2005 - and ADA codes need to go to the American Dental
Association -

I have a client that has local codes that have no HIPAA crosswalk
equivalent. They are using Amysis software and they can't match up to these
local codes. Is there a rule of thumb for this?
