In working on revising aspects of the Clearinghouse Transactions and Connectivity White Paper, Draft 05/10/2001, as per WEDI Business Issues teleconference on 03/18/2003, we are adding a section on Billing Service Companies and their role in HIPAA.
In particular, we are examining when a Billing Service Company acts as more than an extension of the healthcare provider's office and how it is affected by the 'clearinghouse' definition.
