I have run into a couple of issues with my Trading Partners when it comes to the TA1 and the 997. It seems that they are perfectly willing to send me a TA1 and/or 997 when I send them files, but they are not accepting a TA1 or 997 when I receive files from them. They are taking the position that the files they send will be correct and if they are not then we should call the Technical Support Help Desk. We are already finding problems during our testing and it will be very time comsuming to have to call tech support with every issue and then have to wait for a call back.
So my I have a couple of questions for the group that I would like to get some feedback: 1) Is the 997 mandated in the Federal Regulations? 2) Is it recommended that the TA1 and 997 be used between Trading Partners as a part of the information flow? 3) Does the implementation guide's recommended usage carry any weight, if it is not mandated in the Federal Regulations? In other words can we say they are not following the standard if they don't use the TA1 and/or the 997.
I am really disappointed in our trading partners that are not utilizing the functional acknowledgement as a response to having received, accepted or rejected a transaction set.
