David,
Whoever's doing this is out of their tree!

There are some paired elements in the PAT segment, but this relation is not one of them:
PAT05 & PAT06 (date of death) -- both must be present, or both absent
PAT07 & PAT08 (patient weight) -- both must be present or both absent

The opinions expressed here are my own and not necessarily the opinion of LCMH.

Subject: Pt. weight required when date of death reported?

Hello all,

We actually have been getting rejections from a payor based on the edit above - if date of death is sent they are requiring the pt. weight.  I certainly can't see this dependency in the IG.

Opinions?

We are living in interesting times.

Thanks!
David
