At this time, a 277 claim acknowledgement response to receipt of an 837
claim is not a HIPAA covered transaction. {no reference possible}
A 277 claim status response to a 276 claim status inquiry is a HIPAA
covered transaction. {45 CFR part 162, subpart N}. Compliance date for
this transaction pair was 10/16/2002; except for small health plans.
Enforcement date for this transaction pair is either 10/16/2002 or
10/16/2003 depending on whether an ASCA {PL 107-105}extension was
applied-for or the participant is a small health plan.
