acurite makes a variety of sensors, including:

- 5in1 (wind speed, wind dir, rain, temperature, humidity)
- 3in1 (wind speed, temperature, humidity)
- temperature/humidity
- temperature/humidity + probe (water temperature, soil temperature)
- lightning

each of these sensors emits data via radio signals on unlicensed
frequencies.

the bridge listens for the radio signals, then transmits the data via
tcp/ip (over a wired ethernet connection) to wunderground and the acurite
servers.

the consoles (1035/1036/2032/2064) listen for the radio signals from a
subset of sensors (typically just 5in1) and display them. they also have a
usb interface and data logger. the data logger is pretty much worthless,
since data are not retained when power goes out and logging causes usb comm
problems (especially with the 2032 stations).

acurite also sells other consoles that listen for the radio signals and
display them, but have no usb interface.

you can mix and match sensors and displays, to some extent.

using acurite's system, the bridge was limited to 3 sensors. as of the
august 2016 changes to aculink.com, they now limit it to 10 sensors.
however, weewx has no such limits.
