PROBLEM SOLVED!. I am eternally grateful. Somehow I missed that 
troubleshooting guide section of the users manual. 
"wee_device --clear-memory" got me back on line and solved the problem.  I 
lost a little over 24 hours of data, but that is really insignificant.
