thank you, those two lines of code were missing from skin.conf and from the 
backup. 

Just to prove I wasn't going mad I put the original SD card back in the RPi 
and they are there! 

I also had to add the code to the monthly and yearly sections, modified 
accordingly. 

How they got removed from the backup I have no idea, it seems too specific 
for corruption during the backup but stranger things have happened
