the indents do not matter - the square brackets do matter.
the configuration you posted is equivalent to this:
[[MQTT]]
server_url = mqtt://192.168.20.121:1883/
topic = weather/41south
unit_system = METRIC
[[[Inputs]]]
[[[[dayRain]]]]
name = dayRain_mm
units = mm
binding = loop
aggregation = aggregate

try this instead:
