Those are exactly my findings. I also have a piezo rain sensor and tipping rain 
sensor with the funnel upgrade and I feel they complement each other perfectly. 
Yes they work out much the same in the end but the piezo is much better at 
sensing the very fine rain which frequently occurs in this part of the world 
which the tipping sensor never registers.
