It's probably too late to ask but before you change or touch anything more, what exactly did you do or change ?
FWIW for the next time this comes up, I did a clean 26.1 LTS server install on a pi4 and the default 'did' install modemmanager so I needed to remove that, run apt autoremove, and reboot just in case. I did not attach it to my VP2 but I did use a spare serial2usb adapter to do a little testing. The dmesg logs showed a lot of /sys/devices errors from apparmor when I ran lsusb as the default unprivileged user who was only in the following unix groups. I didn't make any changes to add the default user into the right groups to attach to the devices. Presumably the weewx user would need to do that to access the hardware too. pi@pi4jr:~$ groups pi adm cdrom sudo dip lxd On Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 12:51:55 PM UTC-7 bushtech wrote: > Oct 03 21:49:07 Ubuntuserver weewxd[12628]: INFO weewx.engine: Using > binding 'wx_binding' to database 'weewx.sdb' > Oct 03 21:49:07 Ubuntuserver weewxd[12628]: INFO weewx.manager: Starting > backfill of daily summaries > Oct 03 21:49:07 Ubuntuserver weewxd[12628]: INFO weewx.manager: Daily > summaries up to date > Oct 03 21:49:07 Ubuntuserver weewxd[12628]: DEBUG weewx.drivers.vantage: > Getting archive packets since 2026-10-01 21:30:00 SAST (1790883000) > Oct 03 21:49:09 Ubuntuserver weewxd[12628]: DEBUG weewx.drivers.vantage: > Successfully woke up Vantage console > Oct 03 21:49:09 Ubuntuserver weewxd[12628]: DEBUG weewx.drivers.vantage: > Retrieving 0 page(s); starting index= 0 > Oct 03 21:49:09 Ubuntuserver weewxd[12628]: INFO weewx.engine: Starting > main packet loop. > Oct 03 21:49:09 Ubuntuserver weewxd[12628]: DEBUG weewx.drivers.vantage: > Successfully woke up Vantage console > Oct 03 21:49:09 Ubuntuserver weewxd[12628]: DEBUG weewx.drivers.vantage: > Requesting 200 LOOP packets. > Oct 03 21:49:10 Ubuntuserver weewxd[12628]: DEBUG weewx.drivers.vantage: > Successfully woke up Vantage console > I started weewx and lookee here.
